RSS Folders

RSS Folders are subscription folders for websites or content sources that provide RSS Feeds. After an RSS Folder is created, new subscription content continues to appear in that folder for reading and organization.

RSS Folders serve a different purpose from Smart Folders: Smart Folders collect existing resources in your knowledge base based on rules, while RSS Folders continuously bring in new content from external subscription sources.

When to Use RSS Folders

  • Subscribe to blogs, product updates, news sites, podcasts, or other sources that provide RSS Feeds
  • Save long-term information sources into your knowledge base without repeatedly collecting them manually
  • Create subscription folders by topic or source for easier reading and organization later
  • Combine new content from multiple feed sources in one folder and review update time and source together

Create an RSS Folder

On the web app, create RSS Folders from the resource list:

  1. In the left resource list, hover over the Private or Team section title, click the menu on the right, then select Create RSS Folder. You can also right-click the Private or Team section to open the menu.
  2. To create one under a regular resource or regular folder, open that resource or folder menu and select Create RSS Folder.
  3. Enter a Name. The name is required, can contain up to 128 characters, and cannot duplicate another resource at the same level.
  4. Enter a Feed link. Each row must contain a valid http or https link. RSS links are the only supported feed links for now.
  5. Optionally enter a Feed name. If left empty, OmniBox uses the feed title. If the feed has no title, OmniBox uses the link hostname.
  6. To subscribe to multiple sources, click Add link. The page shows the Feed links remaining count. After the current plan limit is reached, you cannot add more links.
  7. Click Create. If a link cannot be recognized as an RSS feed, or the feed content is not publicly accessible, the page shows an error under that link row.

You cannot create RSS Folders inside Smart Folders or RSS Folders, and you cannot create regular files or folders inside them.

View Subscription Content

After creation, the RSS Folder appears in the resource list. Expand it to see recently synced feed items in the resource list, or open the RSS Folder detail page to view more items.

Items are shown newest first by published time. If the feed does not provide a published time, OmniBox uses the time the item was collected. Open an item to view its title, original link, published time, and parsed body content.

If the content is still being parsed, OmniBox shows This article is still being processed. Please try again later. If the item is unavailable, OmniBox shows This RSS item is no longer available.

Manage RSS Folders

  • Rename an RSS Folder, or use Edit to change feed links and feed names.
  • Move an RSS Folder to another location. Moving across Private / Team sections is affected by the RSS Folder limit of the target section.
  • Move an RSS Folder to trash. This removes the RSS Folder itself.
  • You cannot move regular resources into an RSS Folder, and you cannot upload files, create files, or create folders inside an RSS Folder.
  • RSS Folders cannot be selected as AI chat resource context yet, and they do not show the Add to Chat Box action.

Share RSS Folders

RSS Folders can be shared like regular folders. When sharing a folder, Share current file only is unavailable, and the folder contents are shared.

When sharing an RSS Folder, sorting actions are disabled on the share page, so visitors cannot adjust the display order of subscription results.

Plan Limits

Basic namespaces support 1 Private subscription folder and 1 Team subscription folder. Each subscription folder supports up to 1 subscription link.

Pro namespaces support more subscription folders, and each subscription folder supports up to 10 subscription links.
