Agent 2.1

Try asking OmniBox to help you perform actions.

Agent 2.1 uses a more advanced model and is the next-generation Q&A and task execution capability in OmniBox AI. It does more than answer questions from your knowledge base or web search. With your authorization, it can read, organize, create, and modify knowledge base content.

Agent 1.1 is closer to “help me find an answer,” while Agent 2.1 is closer to “help me get this done.”

You can describe your goal in natural language, such as “organize these meeting notes and save them to the Summary folder,” “save this webpage to the team space,” or “find recent materials related to this project and summarize them.” Agent 2.1 will decide what to read first, whether it needs to search, and whether your knowledge base needs to be organized. Before important actions, it will ask for your confirmation.

What It Can Help With

Agent 2.1 is useful for knowledge work that “takes more than one step,” such as:

  • Search materials: Find relevant content in your personal space, team space, or the web
  • Read documents: Read referenced resources or materials found during search
  • Summarize: Summarize long articles, meeting notes, webpages, research materials, or project documents
  • Extract information: Extract action items, key conclusions, risks, timelines, opinions, and more
  • Organize your knowledge base: Create, edit, move, rename, and delete knowledge base resources
  • Manage tags: Browse, search, add, remove, and rename tags, or filter resources by tags
  • Collect webpages: Save webpages to a specific location in your knowledge base for later reading and Q&A
  • Create new content: Generate summaries, checklists, reports, notes, or plans from existing materials
  • Shared page Q&A: Answer questions and perform read-only analysis based on shared content
  • Frontend actions: Expand, collapse, or locate a resource in the interface

How It Differs From Agent 1.1

CapabilityAgent 1.1Agent 2.1
Answer questionsYesYes
Use knowledge base materialsYesYes, and it can actively read more related materials
Web searchYesYes
Complete multi-step tasksLimitedBetter at searching, acting, and adjusting step by step
Organize the knowledge baseNoCan create, move, rename, and delete resources
Edit resource contentNoYes, but only after your confirmation
Manage tagsNoCan add, remove, or find materials by tags
Confirm before actionsUsually not involvedConfirms before changes to avoid mistakes
Knowledge contextCurrent conversation, selected tools, and selected resourcesCurrent conversation, selected resource paths, personal/team Agent memory, and tool-generated context
Shared pagesMainly regular Q&AUses shared-space resources and memory to answer

In short:

  • Agent 1.1 is better for quick questions, answers, writing, and search.
  • Agent 2.1 is better when you have many materials, a more complex goal, or a task that needs step-by-step execution.

Available Tool Capabilities

Knowledge Retrieval

  • Resource Search: Semantic search across personal and team resources, returning citable snippets.
  • Web Search: Search the public web.
  • Resource Filter: Filter resources by path, creation time, update time, tags, title, content, or webpage URL.

Resource Filesystem

Agent 2.1 treats the OmniBox knowledge base as a filesystem:

  • List Resources: List child resources
  • Read Resource: Read resource content
  • Describe Resource: View metadata such as title, path, creation time, and update time
  • Create Resource: Create a resource
  • Edit Resource: Edit resource content
  • Delete Resource: Move a resource to trash
  • Rename Resource: Rename a resource
  • Move Resource: Move a resource to another folder
  • Create Folder: Create a folder in the knowledge base

Tag Management

  • List Tags: List tags and associated resource counts
  • Tag Filter: Filter tags by name or resource count
  • Add Tag to Resource: Add a tag to a resource
  • Remove Tag from Resource: Remove a tag from a resource

Web Collection and Frontend Coordination

  • Collect URL: Collect an HTTP/HTTPS webpage into a target knowledge base folder
  • Frontend Operating: Refresh resources, expand or collapse folders, or locate a resource in the interface

Agent Memory

Agent 2.1 attempts to read the following memory files and uses them as supplemental instructions for the current task:

  • /private/.omnibox/AGENTS.md: Agent memory in the personal space
  • /teamspace/.omnibox/AGENTS.md: Agent memory in the team space

You can write preferences and working conventions in these files, for example:

# Writing preferences

- Reply in English by default.

- When summarizing meetings, prioritize: decisions, action items, risks, and next steps.

- Product docs should follow “user value -> steps -> notes.”

In shared pages, Agent 2.1 reads the shared .omnibox/AGENTS.md and applies those rules in read-only mode.

Common Scenarios

Organize Meeting Notes

You can ask Agent 2.1 to read meeting notes in a folder and produce:

  • Key decisions for the week
  • Action items and owners
  • Open questions
  • Suggested next steps

For example:

text
Organize this week's meeting notes under /Personal/Meetings and extract decisions, action items, and risks.

Summarize Project Materials

When project materials are spread across multiple documents, Agent 2.1 can find the relevant files first and then create a summary.

text
Find materials related to "Agent 2.1" in the team space and turn them into a product update brief.

Manage Knowledge Base Resources

Agent 2.1 can help turn scattered resources into a clearer structure.

text
Find all competitor research materials, group them by company, and suggest a new folder structure. Do not modify anything yet; give me the plan first.

After you confirm the plan, you can ask it to continue with the actual organization.

Collect and Organize Webpages

You can give Agent 2.1 a webpage and ask it to save the page to a specific place with suitable tags.

text
Save this webpage to the "Competitor Research" folder in the team space and tag it with "AI Agent" and "Product Research": https://example.com/article

Create New Content From Existing Materials

Agent 2.1 can generate new documents from selected materials, for example:

text
Read the 3 articles I selected and create a 1000-word reading note with: key ideas, what I learned, and actions I can take.

How to Use It

  1. Open the OmniBox Q&A page.
  2. Enter the task you want to complete, not just a question.
  3. If you want it to focus on specific materials, add those resources to the chat first.
  4. If you need up-to-date information, enable Web Search.
  5. If Agent 2.1 needs to edit, move, delete, or create resources, it will show the action first and wait for your confirmation.

Actions That Need Confirmation

To avoid accidental changes, Agent 2.1 asks for confirmation before it:

  • Create Resource
  • Create Folder
  • Edit Resource
  • Delete Resource
  • Move Resource
  • Rename Resource
  • Collect URL
  • Add Tag to Resource
  • Remove Tag from Resource

You can continue or reject the action. If you reject it, Agent 2.1 will adjust the plan based on your feedback.

Tips

  • Clear tasks lead to more stable results; include the goal, scope, and output format
  • If you want Agent 2.1 to answer only from specific materials, select the relevant files or folders first.
  • If you only want a plan, add “do not modify anything yet; give me the plan first.”
  • If the task includes edits, describe “where to change, what to change, and whether to keep the original content.”
  • If you want it to organize your knowledge base, describe the target resources, naming rules, and organization rules.
  • If you want a report, specify the sections you need, such as “background, conclusions, evidence, next steps.”
  • If you want to keep long-term preferences, write them into .omnibox/AGENTS.md.
  • If you want to use web content, enable Web Search.

Example Prompts

text
Summarize the materials in this folder and create a weekly report I can share with my team.
text
Find AI-related webpages collected in the last 30 days, group them by topic, and create a reading list.
text
Read the documents I selected and extract all action items, sorted by priority.
text
Check the team space for resources with inconsistent names and list rename suggestions first. Do not change anything yet.
text
Save this webpage to the "Read Later" folder in my personal space and generate a short summary.
